Kevin K. Eckert – President
President of Smart Trees Pacific, former Chairman of the Hawaii State Urban and Community Forestry Program, Director on the Arborist Certification Board of the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), Western Chapter Arborist Certification Liaison to the ISA, and past President of the ISA Utility Arborist Association.
Kevin has provided many presentations and published numerous articles on various technical arboriculture topics and has received numerous awards from professional, government and private organizations for his extensive education work and leadership in arboriculture.
Kevin’s mission with Smart Trees Pacific to expand his ability to provide technically correct arboricultural support to use the urban forest to leave a legacy of safe, healthy and productive trees that will most cost-effectively provide the multitude of environmental, human and community health, and financial benefits.
Recognized as an international authority on arboricultural standards and practices, Kevin is also principal lecturer in the arboriculture program at the Windward Community College campus of the University of Hawaii. He has continually remained current by designing and conducting research projects covering a multitude of tree and vegetation management issues.
As an ISA Board Certified Master Arborist (WE-1785 BU) Kevin has been a practicing, climbing arborist and consultant for over 30 years. Currently, Kevin K. Eckert is President and Principal Consultant of Arbor Global USA and Arbor Global Hong Kong Ltd. (AG). AG provides arboriculture and vegetation management consulting, education, training and tree management services to government agencies, environmental organizations, electric utilities, municipalities, corporate and private clients throughout Hawaii, the Mainland United States, Hong Kong, China, Costa Rica, and throughout the tropical Pacific Rim.
Lisa A. Bail – Board Member
Board member of Smart Trees Pacific and Partner, Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel LLP, founded in 1878, Ms. Bail concentrates her practice in environmental law, land use and commercial litigation. Her contributions in the area of environmental law include providing expertise as a contributing author to the Hawai‘i Environmental Law Handbook (published by Government Institutes, 3rd Edition, 2000). This Handbook is designed to provide a guide to Hawai‘i’s environmental laws that affect the private sector, including businesses and real property owners. She is also a co-author of the Hawai‘i Chapter, State Antitrust Practice and Statutes (American Bar Association, 1998) and the Hawai‘i Chapter of an upcoming American Bar Association publication regarding environmental taxes.
Ms. Bail is frequently a speaker at environmental law seminars. She is the current Chair of the Litigation Section and the former Chair of the Natural Resources Section of the Hawai‘i State Bar Association, and an arbitrator for the Court Annexed Arbitration Program. She was named lawyer representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference, 2005-2008 by Chief Judge Ezra, USDC Hawai‘i. She is also a member of Kaulunani, an advisory council to the Hawai‘i Department of Land and Natural Resources regarding urban forestry issues.
